Day 1-2: July 9-10, 2017

Hello family and friends, we have completed our first official day of Iceland exploration! The places we saw today far exceeded our expectations. Even though many of us were running on little to no sleep from the plane ride, learning about the city of Reykjavik finished off by embarking on a hiking trip caused the entire group to forget about their tiredness and focus on the ins and outs of Iceland.

A mixture of sweet and savory makes the perfect breakfast. The cheese on the sandwich was a great start to our day, with its original Icelandic taste. 

Mountain view was awesome, and no one got pecked by the notoriously aggressive Arctic Terns.

Had fun on the beach, but got our shoes dirty. It was worth it.

Iceland wasn't very icy today. Our tour guide kept telling us to "count our lucky stars" because when she was out on the same trail last week, it was rainy and the trail was very muddy, making hard to walk on.

These smiles weren't forced. Surprisingly, it only took us one take to get 95% of us up in the air. This was a refreshing end to a fantastic day. 

After a wonderful day in Iceland, visiting the black sand beach, going bird watching, eating hamburgers for lunch, sleeping on a hill, and trekking a mountain for 3 hours, we  came back to the hotel in one piece and are excited for the rest of our trip.
